I'm just now seeing this petition from SNAP as the day ends, telling the U.S. Catholic bishops to stop the bullying of SNAP and survivors of clerical sexual abuse. I just signed, and encourage readers of this blog to consider doing so as well.
The U.S. Catholic bishops began a two-day administrative committee meeting today. As I have made no secret of thinking, SNAP and survivors of clerical sexual abuse deserve the strongest possible support from American Catholics, and it's scandalous in the extreme, I believe, that the bishops continue the bullying tactics they have exhibited all along in the abuse crisis--now with hardball legal tactics against SNAP in Missouri.
The bishops need to hear from lay Catholics who oppose their bullying. And SNAP needs our support.
