The New York Times is a virulently anti-Catholic rag, of course (IRONY ALERT HERE).
But even as it pummels away at the Vatican while catering to liberal Catholics who have an agenda (unlike their neocon brothers and sisters), it still throws the occasional crumb the way of Catholics who desperately want to find something to be proud of and hopeful about in our church, while our leaders rearrange the deck chairs on their Titanic.
And here's today's crumb (and here), an inspiring video about one priest, Fr. Frederick Loos, with the tenacity and faith to make a difference. In this case, the priest in question is making a difference among economically dispossessed young people in Mexico caught in the spiral of violence and drugs.
Tragic, isn't it, that these voices have so little play in the Vatican, where our chief pastors continue behaving like big-business moguls immune to change, beyond transparency and accountability?
It's high time for reformation.
