Another update of a recent story: I blogged about how those shouting that they want the government off their backs in the 9.12 demonstrations benefit enormously from government contributions in ways too numerous to count. It appears their real worry is not about handouts, as long as they are first in line to receive them.
It’s handouts to the “undeserving” poor we imagine with brown or black faces. That’s what worries many of us.
And so I’m fascinated to read that a group of 9.12 protesters from the great state of Texas want to raise a ruckus about the D.C. subway system and how it functioned during their tea party. The government-built and government-run D.C. metro transportation system.
Their beef? Well, it’s certainly not that government builds and runs transportation systems. It’s that the system didn’t work to their advantage during the tea party. They’re claiming not enough trains were running for the crowds attending the party.
The party held in the government-built, government-maintained public park. With government-hired police watching out for their safety.
While they ran around waving signs and shouting about getting government out of their lives.
