I recently read Sarah Posner's new book Unholy: Why White Evangelicals Worship at the Altar of Donald Trump (NY: Penguin Random House, 2020). Reading it as Robert P. Jones's White Too Long: The Legacy of White Supremacy in American Christianity comes out is in many ways a thoroughly depressing experience. I began reading Jones's book as I was finishing Posner's.

Chauncey DeVega on "Oppressed" White Males as Shock Troops of Alt-Right and GOP White Identity Movement


Here's Chauncey DeVega writing one day before 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz took an assault rifle to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, and murdered 19 people; DeVega's article is entitled "Terror victims Donald Trump won’t talk about: Americans killed by the 'alt-right'":

Southern Poverty Law Center published this valuable essay by Keegan Hankes and Alex Amend entitled "The Alt-Right Is Killing People" on 5 February. On 14 February, Nikolas Cruz, aged 19, took an assault rifle and murdered 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The Alt-Right and Donald Trump's Campaign: A Brief Primer



As Charles Pierce wrote yesterday, this is "the week everyone in America started saying 'alt-right.' " As a service to you readers, here's a list of article I've read in the past two days about the alt-right and its mainstreaming via Trump's campaign, which have struck me as helpful.
