The world is closer to nuclear destruction now due to the choice of "pro-life" white Christians in the U.S. in the 2016 elections. 1)— Bill Lindsey (@wdlindsy) April 15, 2017
81% of white evangelicals and some 60% of white Catholics and Mormons, claiming "pro-life" motives, have brought us to this point. 2)— Bill Lindsey (@wdlindsy) April 15, 2017
What "pro-life" white Christians in the U.S. have chosen to make of the Christian brand is deeply troubling. It's horrifying. 3)— Bill Lindsey (@wdlindsy) April 15, 2017
It makes me, frankly, want to stop up my ears when I hear words like "Jesus" and "salvation" and phrases like "love, mercy, and justice." 4)— Bill Lindsey (@wdlindsy) April 15, 2017

P.S. About the conflicting polling information indicating that somewhat fewer than 60% of white Catholics may have voted for Trump than the 60% initially reported by exit pollsters: is it 55%? Is it 57%? I refuse to play the quibbling numbers game.
The fact is, a majority of white Catholics voted for Trump, claiming pro-life reasons. And this is shameful. It is a tremendous indictment of the failed moral and pastoral leadership of the U.S. Catholic bishops, and it implicates American Catholics in death and destruction — even as a large percentage of Catholics who voted for Donald Trump claimed "pro-life" motivation as they did so.
The "pro-life" movement has turned out to be a moral horror show, a scam. Apologists for it — and they are legion in the American Catholic church — who cannot see this in the era of Donald Trump appear to have something seriously awry in their moral formation and moral vision.
