Call to Cardinal Pell to Come Home and Face the Music Ruffles His Eminence's Feathers

Even in Lent we can laugh, right? Though sometimes it's through our tears.

Yesterday, I mentioned that there's a crowdfunding campaign underway right now to raise money to send fifteeen Australian survivors of childhood sexual abuse by Catholic priests to Rome to be present as Cardinal George Pell, whose heart problems don't permit him to testify before the Australian Royal Commission on abuse, testifies by video link in Rome. You can contribute to this funding campaign by buying Tim Minchin's song on iTunes or GooglePlay.

Listen to Tim Minchin's song to the end, and you'll hear that Cardinal Pell is apparently issuing legal threats against him for singing it. Pell's mad, y'all. He has always! helped! abuse! victims! He has always been their ally!

And so it goes, this 18th day of February in the year of our Lord 2016, as our sad old world creaks around another notch or two on its axis in the drear gray days of the Lenten observance.
