Peter Isely on the Vatican's attempt to deny that there are any connections between sexual abuse of minors by Catholic religious authority figures and torture:
I was assaulted in a boarding school, where I was in complete control of the monks that ran the school. You'd be pulled out of your bed in the middle of the night by the offender, who wanted to sexually assault you. I have classmates who have taken their lives, two of them, killed themselves because of this. This is torture. And this was done within the context of religious authority and organization that was, in fact, claiming to be taking its instructions and its laws coming from the Vatican . . . .
