Thank you all, too, for the many much-appreciated birthday greetings. They have definitely lifted my spirits, and reminded me that there's a narrative line to my life experience and the life experience I share with Steve (and others)--a narrative worth recording.
No matter how odd, aberrant, misplaced this story often seems to be, when measured against the stories of the normal. The rich and famous. The powerful and victorious.
I am very grateful to all of you who left birthday greetings here last week, or who sent greetings to me. You give me hope. And that is one of the most precious gifts around.
