I wonder if the new president of the U.S. Catholic bishops' conference Timothy Dolan and Bully Bill Donohue will be raising a fuss anytime soon about what Erik Prince has done to undermine the reputation of the Catholic church in the U.S. as a group standing for human rights--and human decency, and justice and love?
Funny, I never seem to hear them address that particular issue--what high-profile Catholics on the right end of the political spectrum do to erode Catholic moral teaching in often very conspicuous ways. While they seize the opportunity to bash the art of a person who has died of AIDS and call it blasphemous and an attack on the Catholic church.
With leadership like this in American Catholicism, we don't even need the enemies that Archbishop Dolan and Bully Bill see around every corner. We have enemies aplenty right inside the sanctuary, rattling their swords while claiming to be defending the prince of peace.
