Target Boycott Again: More on Socially Conservative Agenda of Target's CEO Gregg Steinhafel

And so it appears Randi Reitan, the Minnesota grandmother helping to organize the current boycott of Target, is correct when she maintains that the current CEO of Target, Gregg Steinhafel, has a very socially conservative agenda: as Abe Sauer notes in the AWL article to which I've just linked, the top echelons of Target's corporate structure are being increasingly filled with executives who have strong ties to the political and religious right.

And to its homophobic agenda.  This despite Target's avowed support for LGBT rights.

Meanwhile, it appears that the boycott is having an effect on Target's performance in the stock market, though there is also talk of a rebound since this information became public.  A nationwide rally against Target is being planned for August 14.

P.S. When I blogged about the Target boycott last Friday, the Boycott Target page at Facebook had some 48,000 friends.  The count is now up to around 53,000.
