1) For all you folks suddenly discovering there's corruption in the church reaching to the papacy — because Vigano has pointed this out to you and you had never seen it before — I just want to leave these excerpts from Jason Berry's Render Unto Rome right here (p. 159). pic.twitter.com/flcHQkLrQ2— πππππππ π³. π»ππππππ’ (@wdlindsy) August 29, 2018
5) Jason Berry published Render Unto Rome 7 years ago — and you're only NOW discovering that, as Marc Thiessen says today, "If ViganΓ² is right, it means the corruption in the Catholic Church has reached not just the highest levels of Roman Curia but the papacy itself"?— πππππππ π³. π»ππππππ’ (@wdlindsy) August 29, 2018
6) Did you just not read Jason Berry's book (and the many other accounts telling this same story)? Or is it that you prefer to imagine the corruption begins in the papacy only when a pope appears (though appears can deceive) to welcome LGBTQ people in the church?— πππππππ π³. π»ππππππ’ (@wdlindsy) August 29, 2018
7) If there's rot in the papacy — and there clearly is: it has been there for some time now — it did not begin with Francis. It was not Francis who sheltered Maciel. Nor was it Francis who made McCarrick a cardinal. St. John Paul the Great did both of those things.— πππππππ π³. π»ππππππ’ (@wdlindsy) August 29, 2018
8) The quotation from Marc Thiessen above is from this opinion statement:https://t.co/LXUwe93cxO— πππππππ π³. π»ππππππ’ (@wdlindsy) August 29, 2018
