The Cost of Keeping Lord Ray Fine-Clad

In his essay about why the hierarchy fears the nuns to which I just linked, Frank Cocozzelli notes that Catholics are now living in a reactionary (as opposed to conservative) "reign of terror," one of whose principal players is Cardinal Raymond Burke, Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura.

And here's a recent reminder by Brian Coyne at the Catholica blog site of precisely what it requires, in terms of financial outlay from ordinary non-ordained Catholics, to "keep Lord Ray looking like Jesus," as Coyne brilliantly puts the point.

Brian Coyne's slideshow reminds me of the wonderful (and similar) photo essay about Burke's finery by Huguccio Della Chiesa (love that name!) at Richard Sipe's blog site.  (Later in the day: looking more carefully at Coyne's sideshow, I see he's actually using Huguccio Della Chiesa's gallery.)

Buskins and zuchettos seem to have shot up in price since I last bought either.  Dalmatics seem to be holding their own, though, pricewise.
