More on Red-vs.-Blue Family Values: Alternet Interviews Naomi Cahn and June Carbone

Another look back: I blogged a month ago about Naomi Cahn and June Carbone's new study of family values in red and blue states.  Their book Red Families v. Blue Families (NY: Oxford UP, 2010) shows that the states with the most loudly professed family values--conservative red states--also have the highest rates of divorce and teen births.

Blue states, by contrast, have lower rates of divorce and teen pregnancy.  They appear actually to be living the family values that the red states profess.

Cahn and Carbone's important study continues to be discussed.  Today's Alternet is carrying an interview by Amy DePaul with Cahn and Carbone (based on both phone conversations and email exchanges).  To anyone interested in the important topics of family and family values, I recommend this conversation.
