Wayne Besen: Words That Kill

Wayne Besen (here) on bullying of students identified as gay, and the suicides of some of these youth when schools do nothing to stop the bullying:

Equally tragic is that this problem is not considered a major story in the mainstream media. We are treated to countless hours of babbling baloney and blithering buffoonery but the preventable suicide by an 11-year-old boy is considered an afterthought.

In my view, this tragedy should be on the front page of every newspaper in the nation.

And in the syllabi of college classrooms across the nation, particularly in education departments and especially in church-owned universities; and in the sermons delivered at every pulpit in the nation; and in the dinner-table discussions of families across the land . . . It is our problem, and we are responsible for its continued ugly intrusion into one life after another.
