Standing in Solidarity: Pushback Against NOM Drive to Dump Starbucks

If you're interested in a bit of e-activism to support gay rights, here's a good opportunity:

As Jim Burroway is reporting at Box Turtle Bulletin, the National Organization for Marriage is trying to punish Starbucks for its support of marriage equality in Washington state.  NOM has an online petition calling on those opposed to marriage equality to sign and dump Starbucks.

SumofUs has responded with an online thank-you note to Starbucks for supporting equal rights for gay citizens.  As of 9:30 A.M. today CST, the SumofUs petition has 98,796 signatures.

The NOM Dump Starbucks petition has 7,867 signatures.

Jim Burroway's article has links to both petition sites.  In case you want to send a note of thanks to Starbucks for its support of gay rights, here's the direct link to the SumofUs petition.
